What was there before time itself began? Could an explosion exist without the space to contain it? The Point of Singularity is not an attempt to resolve these questions, but a place where science and art meet at the very edge of the unknown. It is an artistic interpretation of one of the most complex theories about the origins of the Universe.

The world’s first immersive AV installation inside a 360° LED sphere was created in collaboration with MTS Live. It was first presented at the international festival of media-art INTERVALS, and later at the Biennale of Environmental Art in Nizhny Novgorod. Over the course of three and a half months, it was seen by 25,000 people.

At the core of Point of Singularity was the scientific theory of the Big Bang. The installation reimagined the stages of the Universe’s birth as a metaphor for artistic creation, tracing the path of light from the singularity to the emergence of life.

This journey unfolded through a sequence of stages: from cosmic inflation and the formation of the four fundamental forces to the struggle between matter and antimatter, the birth of stars, the creation of black holes, and the emergence of the event horizon. Its finale led the spectator from chaos to life, and toward an awareness of their place in the Universe.
The six-minute show inside the sphere was developed in dialogue with leading researchers, with the support of the Faculty of Physics at ITMO University, balancing scientific accuracy with the search for an expressive artistic language.
The installation was set inside a full-scale LED sphere with a diameter of 10 meters. Its entire inner surface was covered with flexible LED panels spanning 314 m², creating a seamless 360° panorama. A total of 6,281 panels were used in the construction.

The visual content, tailored specifically for its shape and scale, is complemented by spatial sound, enhancing the sense of full immersion. The sound design was created by musicians Nikita Zabelin and Andrey Polyakov.
The project was ambitious in its technical execution as well. A 360° setup inside a sphere weighing 34 tons and rising to the height of a three-story building was constructed on a steel framework with an integrated bridge, allowing spectators to step into the very center of the space. The frame was custom-built by the Nizhny Novgorod Metal Structures Plant, with technical support from the Dreamlaser team.

Technology and pixels functioned not only as form but also as a medium for emotion. Within the engineering solutions, the concept was revealed, transforming the project into an artistic collider where science and art, doubt and wonder met.

“Our installation is an artistic take on the very edge of theory — the moment where physics falls silent and only questions remain. How can nothing exist? Why does the Universe have no center, yet a beginning? And what connects a quantum fluctuation to an act of creation? We set out to create a space where science and art meet at the limits of understanding. That is where its honesty lies“, says Alexander Us, co-founder and Creative Director of SILA SVETA.
